Introduction
I wrote this app because I was very annoyed of Android bug #2207:
when connected to wifi, after some time you cannot access mobile data anymore, you have to switch to flight mode or 2G/3G.
Easy speaking this tool will setup an internet connection using your 2G/3G network while still connected to your wifi, so
it prevents you from being not able to reconnect to your mobile network after leaving wifi. Once installed and activated
it will always be called when you get connected to a wifi. It does not matter if this app gets closed, because the Android
system will run the app, whenever it is necessary.
If you have any suggestion for a feature not covered by the options below, please let me know!
This tool is well tested on Nexus One and Samsung Galaxy 3.
Options
Use auto reconnect
This option enables or disables the whole app.
Trigger interval in minutes
After this amount of minutes the app triggers an internet connection. You have to specify an amount of time, that is big enough to save
battery but also small enough so that you will be able to reconnect to your mobile network.
Choose network mode
These options are for compatibility reasons. Normally the option "enableMMS" is good for you. To test functionality, connect
to a wifi, enable auto reconnect, choose an option and push the "Start test" button. Now you should see your mobile data
connection raising up. Afterwards push "Stop test". Your connection should be dropped. If nothing happens, please try the
other options. Please contact me, if you need to use any other option than "enableMMS" and send me your phone model and
firmware version.
Configure notifications
This button opens a configuration dialog, where you can configure each notification option.
Show events in notification bar
When enabled, you can configure every possible event. For each event you can enable event notification in the notification bar and/or
writing events to the log. I suggest to keep it enabled for the first few days for debugging purposes.
Reset configured wifis
This option I added because sometimes (even before developing WifiFixerFree) when leaving wifi my last connected wireless network got
disabled in the wifi list. I was not able to reconnect until I manually forced a connection. I do not know if this is another annoying
bug. It rarely happens, but I keep it enabled. After each wifi disconnect it trys to ensure all configured wifis are enabled. Whenever
a disabled wifi is found it will raise a notification. If you see any reproducable pattern, feel free to contact me.
Context menu: Log
Shows all logged events. According to performance not more than 300 events will be saved until the log is cleared using the context menu option.
